In a whirl-wind tour through Quivira National Wildlife Refuge,

I was treated to some nice surprises!

 

Loggerhead Shrike - fascinating predatory songbird

 

Blizzard of Snow and Greater White-fronted Geese

 

Sandhill Cranes with the landing gear down

 

 

The big white bird is an extremely endangered Whooping Crane

1 of only 193 adults in the only migrating Whooping Crane population

White-tailed Deer at last light

 

Great-horned Owl (1/30s at 420mm with image stabilization!!!)
